‘Help Wanted’ is a television series and multimedia project from PBS stations WMHT-Albany and WCNY-Syracuse focused on helping New Yorkers deal with the current economic crisis that is dramatically affecting individuals and families across the state.

The ‘Help Wanted’ television series, hosted by Dan Bazile and Liz Ayers, follows the journeys of 44 New Yorkers from all corners of the state, walks of life and educational levels as these individuals and their families struggle with obstacles such as unemployment, reduced family income, financial scams or the quest to develop new skills for a better job. To address these challenges, ‘Help Wanted’ focuses on four key areas: employment, job training, consumer protection and family finances.

The mission of ‘Help Wanted’ extends beyond its television broadcast to include grassroots outreach events with partnering state agencies and community service organizations. In addition, the HelpWantedInteractive website enables New Yorkers to navigate through an often cluttered online information environment to find precisely those resources that may be most helpful.

Whether on the air, online or on site, the ‘Help Wanted’ project provides practical information to help New Yorkers make sound economic decisions at a time when doing so has never been more important.

At its core, ‘Help Wanted’ is about how to get help and, in the process, restore hope.
